We’re 10 minutes in, trailing 2-0. What stands out most?

  • The difference in levels between our players — something to start working on.
  • I can immediately see where the weakness in our play lies.
  • I can already see heads starting to drop, so I give them plenty of encouragement.

You’ve got a pitch full of Ronaldos — how do you handle all those star players?

  • Even Ronaldo might find certain exercises tricky, but there’s always something they can excel at!
  • Our Ronaldo gets disappointed when they don’t play, but once I explain it, they understand.
  • With so many Ronaldos, tempers can sometimes run high, but I always find a way to keep everyone on side.

Do you get a sense of what’s needed after a tough match?

  • The muscles really felt it — I’ll take that into account next week.
  • I keep the debrief short because they’re mentally drained.
  • I also make sure they rehydrate properly afterwards — you lose a lot of fluids!

In the clubhouse after the match...

  • I like to chat for a while about what it takes to improve players and the match.
  • I like to listen to another person's good analysis and take it to the next match.
  • I easily ask another parent if they have time next week to do something for the team.

The best thing about the football team is ...

  • The growth they experience personally by playing precisely with each other too!
  • Finding the right chemistry between the different players and forging them into a cohesive team.
  • The fun and laughter they have together!

It's party time: your team won big!

  • Nice result! I also saw great progress in some players today compared to the past few weeks.
  • I really enjoyed the teamwork this match. They were able to find each other blindfolded!
  • High-Five! But first, thank the opponent and wish them luck for next time.

Saturday another match! You make sure anyway that ...

  • Everyone gets adequate and varied preparation.
  • There is a clear changeover schedule so that everyone gets their turn.
  • The pick-up and drop-off schedule is clear to everyone and updated as needed.

The match has started, what you soon notice is …

  • That amazing one-two pass from behind.
  • Why one team seems to have a player more vs. the other team.
  • That one player seems to be moody and, in my opinion, thirsty.

It's hard for the players today on the field.

  • Is it a lack of fitness or is it in something else?
  • I'm going to change one or more players a little earlier.
  • Can happen, if only they don't lose heart.

Look at that! What a beautiful through ball that is ...

  • What a kicking technique and given with such good feeling.
  • That one was really deployed at exactly the right time, as discussed.
  • I am on the edge of my seat, they are looking forward to it today. So am I!

This weekend an important match ...

  • I try to get the players in optimal shape.
  • It is important for the team to go into the field with good energy: I know how to generate that energy.
  • An enthusiastic crowd helps for extra motivation; the more people along the line, the better!

Creativity for the team means to you:

  • A ball cart and some pawns and I'm good to go!
  • Devise, apply and adapt tactics!
  • Forgot the shirts? No problem, I do have a solution!

Stress you don't have so easily, even when ...

  • it rains heavily ... Then I still know what fun and useful things to do!
  • there's an injury to a player ... That one gets my support and I figure out what the right substitution is.
  • something goes wrong or needs to be taken care of, then I am at my best.

When it comes down to it, then ...

  • I know how to get the group moving together.
  • I'm doing well to keep the reins in my hands.
  • I know how to involve children, fathers, mothers or family.
